About MAKE

We are a great group of people, passionate about Jesus and wanting to make him known in Mackay – as we seek to be a vibrant, growing, bible teaching church!  We love digging into God’s word to see what he has to say to us in a real, relevant and life changing way.

Why Vibrant?

We’ve experienced that Jesus death on the cross has brought happiness and joy, deep contentment and peace by his Spirit. We want to continue to live in that experience and see others enter into it through Jesus.

Why Growing?

We are a church where people who don’t know heaps about Jesus and church, can come along and feel deeply loved and valued as they find out more.

Why Bible Teaching?

In a world where things change so quickly and new fads and ideas are gone as quickly as they came, we need something solid to hold onto.  For us at MAKE that Rock is Jesus and his words to us in the Bible. We keep the reading of the Bible central to our meetings, both small and large, and also through expositional preaching and teaching through books of the Bible, connecting those ancient texts with the complexity our day to day lives.

Why Jesus?

Jesus is the one who deeply satisfies our souls by dying the death we deserve and rising to the new life he invites us to share with his Father, by the Spirit.

What do we do at church?

Sunday Service

We meet at the Fitzgerald State School Hall (Norris Road, North Mackay). We hear from God’s word, ask questions, pray, sing and share some food. We kick off at 9:30am followed by just over an hour of teaching, prayer, hearing the bible read and singing.

The kids head out at the start of church for Kids Church where they dig into the bible and have anything from raps, videos, skits, craft and more to reinforce the teaching and have fun. We love providing age appropriate teaching for the kids but if you would prefer for your kids to be in the service with you that’s fine! There are toys at the back of the church during  the service for young children. We also have a bible study for Youth during the week (see below).

After church we share morning tea together and lunch on the first Sunday of the month.

Come as you are! No church experience required

Kids Church

We have 3 age groups:

  • PreKindy – are taught an interactive Bible lesson using the Kidswise material.
  • Kindy – Yr5  are taught an interactive Bible lesson using the Kidswise material alongside clay modelling, pictionary, cooking and games to reinforce the teaching.
  • AXIS Youth happens on a Tuesday evening, 5pm-6:15pm at our youth leader’s home.  It is for Yr 6-Yr12 students.  Our youth have a lot of fun with each other and love digging into the truths of scripture and seeing how that connects with everyday life.

Our Kids Church is staffed by a really great bunch of people from church who are passionate about communicating the Jesus of the bible to our kids.  Everyone has working with children cards and we have regular reminders on child safe practices.  Please see MAKE Child Protection Policy & Procedures Oct 2017 for more information.

Maturity Groups

We have a number of groups meeting to help us to understand the Bible better for ourselves, to encourage each other to apply this in our day to day lives and to love each other in whatever circumstances we are in. We currently have 2 mixed groups meeting on Wednesday evening and a men’s group on Tuesday evening.  For those women who prefer to meet in the day, there is a great group of women who meet on Tuesday Mornings at 9:15am for bible study. We have a creche worker to help the mums so they can get stuck into God’s word too.  Kids are most welcome!

These groups are a great way to get to know each other better, support each other, to read the Bible and pray together. Contact Jai on 0429 852 949 if you’d like more details or are keen to come along.
