Mining For Wisdom: Job

Mining is a crowning achievement of human ingenuity as humans dig for minerals of value, great distances below the earth.  Sometimes life, can feel a bit like the endeavour of mining, as we push ourselves harder and harder, to get out of life, the value we desire. Security, riches, comfort, happiness, meaning, purpose.

In the Old Testament book of Job, we find that by ourselves we can never take hold of the thing we are really searching for and the thing we really need – wisdom.  Only God knows the way to wisdom.  Yet surprisingly, in the middle of the book, we are freely given the secret to wisdom:

‘And he said to the human race, “The fear of the Lord – that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.’ Job 28:28

God would freely give us wisdom and as you reflect on the book of Job, you find that ultimately that wisdom has been given to us in the man Jesus Christ.

Join us at MAKE, Sundays at 4pm, beginning on the 23rd April 2017, as we work our way through this rich book over 8 weeks.  Fitzgerald State School Hall, Norris Rd, North Mackay.  Love to see you there.
