Living As a Christian In the Presence of Porn

At the moment at MAKE we’re covering a few isolated issues before we launch into John’s gospel next term.  Yesterday the topic was pornography.  Maybe not the kind of topic you’d expect to hear preached on in a church, but something none-the-less that we need to think about in our culture.

I mentioned during the talk, a couple of resources that I relied heavily upon in my preparation and that I said I would post – so here it is.

Firstly, a talk done by Mark Driscoll, titled the The Porn Path and secondly, a short book he wrote called Porn Again Christian.  I’d recommend every man to read the short book, whether you struggle with Porn or not.  It covers some material that I didn’t get the chance to touch on in the talk.

Also I referred to a much more detailed book by William M. Struthers, Wired for Intimacy, who writes from a neural science background.

Finally, I recently heard a talk about addiction by the lady who set up this organisation, which related to my comments about those for whom porn has become an addiction that needs focused help to overcome.
